Taking Care of Braces
(HealthDay News) - Braces can harbor food particles and bacteria that can damage and decay teeth. So, it's especially important to take good care of your teeth while wearing braces.Here are some suggestions, courtesy of the Nemours Foundation:
- Brush after every meal.
- Limit candy, sodas and juices in your diet. When you do have them, be sure to brush your teeth right after you finish eating.
- Floss teeth regularly with a special floss for braces, which your orthodontist can recommend.
- Rinse your teeth regularly with fluoride.
- Avoid foods that are very hard, chewy or sticky, as they can damage your braces.
